The structure assignment was dispatched to 6732 Church Hill Road in the 0512 box for a reported structure fire with possible hazmat, bringing Church Hill, Chestertown, Crumpton, Sudlersville and QAC EMS. Units arrived to find a large metal storage building with heavy smoke showing. Kent Engine 68 and Engine 55 made an attack on the fire, while a water supply was established. The dispatched address is a nursery with a furniture refinishing business on site, however upon further investigation no hazardous materials were found to be involved. Several lines were stretched and the fire was knocked down. Kent Tower 6 was utilized to extinguish pockets of fire in the areas unreachable by ground. Other companies were utilized for overhaul or staged on scene. Kent County Chief 6 (Neal) had command. Eight firefighters staffing Engine 55, Tanker 5 and Special Unit 59 responded on the run.
